PRIDE PARADE EXHIBITION

Marking the 10th anniversary of the Oxford Pride Parade this exhibition of photographs by Parade Officer and professional photographer MazzImage includes written memories of people’s first Pride march and why it is still relevant today.

Ice & Fire are a theatre company that explores human rights stories through performance. They will be reading first-hand accounts of LGBT+ refugees experiences both in their own countries and on arrival in the UK. A reception to open the Pride Parade Exhibition will follow.

THAMES WALK

Joins the Burford Firefighters as they walk the Thames River from its source to the Thames Barrier covering 186 miles in 6 days for two brilliant charities; See Saw and Firefighters Charity. On this day they will travel through Oxford City Centre with a stop at Bonn Square before continuing to Abingdon. A rainbow donation fire extinguisher bucket is at Oxford Town Hall. Lesbian History talk: ALICE FRANKLIN

Alice Franklin was an early 20th century Jewish feminist, and with her partner she founded and ran the Townswomen’s Guild in its early (and more radical) days. This talk looks at the experience of lesbians involved in feminist activity in the years after World War I. The Lesbian History Group is a small, friendly and informal women’s group and we welcome new members. The group has an interest in all aspects of lesbian history and culture but members are not all experts or academic historians. Monthly meetings usually take the form of a talk given by one of the members of the group and we also sometimes hold discussions and social activities.

The 2018 Parade starts at midday, marching through historic streets and busy shoppers before arriving at the Pride Day event at Oxford Castle Quarter. Registered groups and individuals sign in from 10.30am with Pride volunteers at the new and very shinny Rainbow Bus. We march to protest and to celebrate together as a community to show our True Colours!
